Joseph Kosinski To Direct ‘Miami Vice’ Reboot

Miami Vice is getting new life breathed into it by Joseph Kosinski, director of 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick and this June’s F1, per The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie, which is in development at Universal, will be written by Dan Gilroy and produced by Dylan Clark. The former of those wrote the 2014 thriller, Nightcrawler, and Clark is best known for his work genre work with Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe.

After Apple‘s F1, The Hollywood Reporter notes that Miami Vice will not be Kosinski’s next picture as he is set to direct a UAP conspiracy thriller – also for Apple.

For Universal’s part, the studio has an impressive slate over the next few years, with 2025’s live-action How To Train Your Dragon, Jurassic World Rebirth,Wicked: For Good, and more. 2026 is looking even more promising, with the follow up to Mario, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, untitled movies from Steven Spielberg and Jordan Peele, and Shrek 5.
