Director Takashi Yamazaki returns for the sequel to 2023's Godzilla Minus One, which won an Oscar for its visual effects. The new film picks up in 1949, two years after the events of the first, and follows the Shikishima family as they face a new catastrophe. Its synopsis frames the setting as a Japan that war reduced to zero and Godzilla pushed below it, now trying to rebuild.

Minus Zero is the first Japanese production to be Filmed For IMAX, shot in Japan on IMAX-certified digital cameras. It premiered on 26 September as the Spotlight Gala at the 64th New York Film Festival, and will have its UK premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on 14 October.

Release dates for other territories are listed at godzilla.com.
